El Taller del Maestro

A 12 week welding course

Leonardo and Nikoah are part of our Blossom Creek Family.  Leonardo will be teaching, starting May 8th 2025 a vocational class that isn’t just any vocational class; it’s a discipleship program at its core. Our heart is to disciple young boys in the community both spiritually and vocationally through this workshop.

Why welding?  For starters, Leo loves to weld!

Seconldy, in our rural area, most teenage boys have very limited opportunities after elementary school. (In Honduras, public education is only free through 6th grade, so many kids have to drop out; only about 30% of rural Honduran children go on to high school — a heartbreaking reality.)

These young men often end up feeling stuck, without skills to find good work and without guidance during the pivotal teen years. We want to change that story by equipping them with a trade and pointing them to Jesus, the Master Craftsman of our lives.

Each week at The Master’s Workshop, a small group of boys will come to Blossom Creek to learn the basics of welding from Leonardo. They’ll be taught how to safely use a welding machine, how to cut and join metal, and they’ll work on practical projects – imagine their pride when they build something useful with their own hands! But even more importantly, each class will include a time of Bible study and heart-to-heart mentoring. Through these sessions, we pray the boys will discover their God-given worth and purpose. Our desire is for each of these young men to understand that they are God’s workmanship – like a piece of metal in the hands of a skilled craftsman, God is shaping them and molding them into His image.

This initiative ties directly into Blossom Creek’s mission of cultivating a deep and intimate love for Jesus through education, employment, and sustainability. By teaching practical job skill, we’re investing in the boys’ future employment potential; by grounding them in Biblical truth, we’re investing in their education of the heart and soul. As they grow into capable, God-honoring men, they can help build a more sustainable and hopeful community and a better tomorrow. We are so excited to kick off this pilot program. Please pray with us for wisdom, safety, and open hearts as we begin May 8th.
